San Antonio Spurs 50-16 (1st Place Southwest Division, 1st Seed Western Conference)

San Antonio Spurs Season Recap

What more can we say about the Spurs season? Is it a failure the way they went down? Probably not, but it was not the way things should have came out. 20 wins in a row, and a perfect postseason record only to be followed up with four straight losses. That’s the only four game losing streak this Spurs team had. They didn’t even lose three games in a row until the Thunder took care of them.

Memphis Grizzlies 41-25 (2nd Place Southwest Division, 4th Seed Western Conference)

The Grizzlies did not end their postseason the way they envisioned after the game seven loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Some were saying Memphis could be a dark horse to sneak into the Conference Finals. But they struggled in that first round, and never got out of it. They even had a six game winning streak going into the playoffs, but that first game loss where they lost the lead of so many points had to hurt their mind set afterwards.

Dallas Mavericks 36-30 (3rd Place Southwest Division, 7th Seed Western Conference)

Dallas Mavericks Season Recap

The defending champs didn’t even get out of the gates once they got sweep by Oklahoma City Thunder. Not the best way to defend your NBA title from a year ago.

Houston Rockets 34-32 (4th Place Southwest Division, 9th in Western Conference)

The Rockets were right there vying for the 8th spot, but couldn’t get the job done at the end of the season. They hurt themselves the most in April, where they hit a wall of 6 losses in a row to drop out of the race.

New Orleans Hornets 21-45 (5th Place Southwest Division, 15th in Western Conference)

Well this season did give some good to the Hornets. There’s a new owner there, so the team isn’t owned by the NBA. They also won the first pick in the draft, so now they can pick up a good player to add to their team, and hopefully put together a better season next year. They also did get a four game winning streak going, but still too many losses hurt this team. Especially that row of 9 losses. Followed up by a string of 8 losses a couple of games later. Some work to be done down there to combat the loss of Chris Paul.
