Dallas Mavericks (32-22) 81
Indiana Pacers (40-12) 73
They went into that fourth quarter with the small lead and left that fourth quarter losing by 7, there’s reasoning for that. How about only 11 points in the fourth quarter when the Pacers are usually a strong second half team?
They also didn’t seem to press the issue late in this game as they were down 6 with little time left. I think overall it was like that day before a vacation and you’re ready for the vacation, that’s how this game went.
I don’t even know how to give kudos to for their effort. Danny Granger had a strong first half hitting 3-3 from three point range, but overall shot 4-9 for 13 points. Paul George gets 12 points. David West gets 12 points and a technical foul in the process. I wasn’t surprised by it as he’s one that I am just a bit afraid could go off the deep end if something gets under his skin.
Roy Hibbert was non existent in a game that I thought the Pacers would look more to him. Lance Stephenson and George Hill had good efforts, but not enough to get the team over the hump.
It was definitely an empty feeling going into this All Star Break. I’ll still say as well that as long as you start the week after this break on a strong note, then it’s not too much to worry about. Right now, just take the time to get the mind set right and get back to all those things that were working so well at the beginning of the season.
