Line: IND -11.5
One better believe the Indiana Pacers marked this game on their calendar, and the Vegas odds prove that fact to be true. The line for tonight’s Pacers’ matchup with the Phoenix Suns has Indiana favored by 11.5.
After Phoenix dismantled, shredded and overall, dominated the Indiana Pacers last week in Arizona, this rematch has been on the minds of the blue and gold ever since. The Suns beat the Pacers 124-100. Former Pacers Gerald Green and Miles Plumlee exploded for 23 and 11 points, respectively, and it looked as though they were out to prove something.
Tonight, it’s Indiana’s turn to prove something. It’s their turn to prove they are truly the best in the league and aren’t going to get pushed over by a team that is not better than them on paper.
Credit to Phoenix head coach Jeff Hornacek, however. He has truly gotten his players to buy in to what he is preaching and buy into his system. They are undoubtedly the surprise team in the NBA, with less than half the regular season left to play. And with the way the Suns are playing, I see them making the playoffs in a tough Western Conference.
But again, tonight will be Indiana’s night. The Pacers must come out with the defensive clamps fully engaged and ready to attack. Phoenix is currently embarking on an Eastern Conference road trip, having won their first two games.
The Indiana Pacers need to give them their first loss of the trip, and by a big margin.
Watch for Paul George and Lance Stephenson to come out looking to find a groove on offense. Indiana should look to feed the ball to Roy Hibbert in the post against Plumlee, because the big fella is looking to redeem himself from last week’s poor performance in Phoenix.
Indiana will come out swinging tonight, and continue to do so until the final buzzer. Pacers win 107-87.
