Indiana Pacers (26-6) 99
New Orleans Pelicans (15-17) 82Maybe the Indiana Pacers were busy keeping tabs on what the Indianapolis Colts were doing in that first quarter as they couldn’t do much of anything. I thought everyone looked slow and just not into the game. You have to give the credit to the second unit as they brought some energy into that second quarter, where the Pacers put up 29 points.
Not feeling content with the second quarter, the Pacers get out of the 3rd quarter with 30 points and holding the New Orleans Pelicans to 12 points. A couple of comebacks in the city of Indianapolis this evening. The Colts one will get all the press, but the way the Pacers did their defensive thing in that third quarter is saying something.
From the start of this game, it felt like the Toronto game, where this Pelicans team looked much better than the previous meeting. But they couldn’t keep it going as the Pacers really put the clamps on in that second and third quarter.
Paul George gets his 24 points and 10 rebounds. How about the play of Danny Granger? 13 points that featured a four point play. Lance Stephenson continued his impressive play as he had most of his 19 points in that third quarter alone.
I think he was one of the big catalysts for that strong effort in the third. It’s like the switch went on for the Pacers as they just dominated the third. Not sure what the solution is for the team to get that going earlier, especially if you play against a quality opponent. The Pacers have to come out strong in the start and continue it throughout the game.
This was a great win for the team as they were able to turn that game around. It’s a great win for the city to celebrate two premiere teams in the Pacers and Colts. Let’s hope the train keeps rolling for both.
