I saw the news come out about Solomon Hill being sent to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, which people interpreted that it was a bad thing for him. It was a demotion of sorts. It took Indiana Pacers General Manager, Kevin Pritchard, to clear the air about the matter.

This was exactly my thinking on the matter as well. For Hill, it’s a great way to get some playing time and work on his game. He wasn’t going to get much more playing time with the Pacers right now with Danny Granger back, so why not let him develop a bit more?
I’ve always believed he was a long term solution for Danny Granger whenever his time is done. Just look at Hill, and you see a four year college guy that’s played small forward. He definitely has the tools to play at the NBA level, but just needs that extra bit of time. With the Pacers set to go now, he has that time to improve and contribute down the road.
You look at last year and Orlando Johnson spent some time with the Mad Ants as well. I believe there were even a few games where he played with the Mad Ants and then was with the Pacers the next night. So for Solomon Hill, this is not a bad thing upon his game. Now if it was David West or George Hill being sent to this team, we can talk about a demotion. Mark Boyle of the Pacers radio broadcast had mentioned before that Dwight Howard should have been sent to the D-League as a consequence of his actions a couple of years ago, which I do like the idea.
Back to the matter at hand, I hope Solomon Hill can develop his game and become a contributor for this team. Whenever that happens, it should work out the best for the team and for himself.
