It’s Sunday, so how about catching up on the latest Pacers news from around the web? It’s the start of training camp, so teams are looking to gear up for the season. The Pacers will have an interesting training camp as they look to insert Danny Granger back into the picture. There are new pieces in Luis Scola and Chris Copeland. Some new coaching staff to get acclimated with. Improvements to Roy Hibbert and Paul George will be looked upon. Just a great time for the guys to come together as they get ready for October 29th, the first game of the season a home date with the Orlando Magic. The expectations are very high for this team, so it’s very important to put this team together the right way.
Bob Kravitz writes up in his USA Today article that Danny Granger will in fact start the season for the Indiana Pacers. To me, this does make sense as you look at the pieces that are in Indiana now. Lance Stephenson going back to the bench as a shooting guard moves Chris Copeland to a more natural position of small forward for him. The Granger insertion moves Paul George back to the shooting guard for him, which shouldn’t be a problem for him. In fact, he could be a problem for other shooting guards thanks to his length and ability. George is already a great defender thanks to that length, so just imagine him working against those smaller shooting guards. It’s ultimately how Danny Granger ends up feeling with his knees, and hopefully he’s comfortable with a decreased role, but one that should still be very important.
A great look at how Solomon Hill fits into the Indiana Pacers, a pick that looks to be of the long term idea, and not just someone to bring in. In fact, this draft pick probably means the end for Danny Granger after this season as Solomon Hill looks to be a good copy of Granger.
Some great coverage of the Indiana Pacers Media Day this past week.
