Game four tonight between the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks would go a long way to finally see what this Pacers team is truly about. Going out and putting the Knicks away would be a great way to get closer to that ultimate goal of four wins in the series. The Pacers have to come out ready to go as you know the Knicks don’t want to be down 3-1, especially since the winner of game three has gone on to win 77% of the time in these type of playoff match ups. The Pacers haven’t been the best when dealing with good success in these playoffs. Look at round one, and the Pacers were up 2-0, but then fall badly to the Atlanta Hawks in two straight games before winning the next two to put the Hawks away. This series has shown that when the Pacers play their brand of basketball, they’re the better team.
Tonight in front of the home crowd, the Pacers have to play their brand of basketball. They have to control the glass, and work hard on defense to make the Knicks one dimensional. They’re already heard some rumbling from Tyson Chandler about how the ball wasn’t moving as good as it should. That pretty much looked like a shot to Carmelo Anthony, but then again, Chandler has just had a horrible game with Roy Hibbert destroying him, so maybe Chandler had no room to talk. Plus, this team will go as Anthony goes. There’s no doubt, he’s the scoring machine for this team, so if he’s not getting the ball to where he has a good shot at scoring, the Knicks aren’t scoring.
Speaking of Roy Hibbert, he’ll need to be just as aggressive as he was in game three. I believe game three was one of his best, if not the best performance, he’s had as an Indiana Pacer. You look at how he dominated the offensive glass to the tune of 8 offensive rebounds compared to the Knicks having 10 on their whole team. That’s a lot of put backs, and second chances for the Pacers. He needs to set that tone again this evening, and help drive the Pacers home to victory. It’s all about that aggressive attitude, and if the Pacers have their head in the mind set, this game should be over and one by the fourth quarter.
