Indiana Pacers (12-11)
Detroit Pistons (7-18)
This has been a solid week for the Pacers as they travel to Detroit for a showdown in Motown. They’ve had two wins against teams that they should beat. Coming back from an early deficit against the Cavaliers Wednesday to pull away for a double figure win. Then last night taking care of business against the Sixers got the Pacers above .500, and they should be able to stay above that tonight against a bad Pistons team. Paul George torched the Pistons last season in a game, and I would look for him to take advantage of his scoring touch this evening.
Roy Hibbert is someone to watch as well with his best offensive game last night with 19 points. He’s been impressive on defense, but everyone is hoping for the offensive side to step up. There’s not much explanation for the bad shooting around the basket as he gets plenty of touches there. I feel like he’s almost too soft around the basket at times, so if he can become more aggressive and take it to the hole, those shots should go down and he can get that scoring up. David West is helping out in the post area as well with his double double machine ability. He looks to be that All Star that was playing in New Orleans for so many seasons before a tough injury.
The Pacers might not be the most pleasing team to watch, but the defense can get the job done. That defense can keep this team in the game even after rough patches of no offense. But the flow of the offense looks to be coming around, especially after that Dallas Mavericks game in early November. The Pacers are 29th in points for, but 1st in points allowed. I look for a tough defensive effort tonight to hopefully keep this momentum going against the not so good teams. I see a Pacers win by double figures, and another win closer to the division lead.
