Back-to-back disgraceful performances from the Pacers have me feeling ill. This might have been the worst game we see all year. The saddest thing is that they’ve shown that this might be what we expect all year. In better news, it’s my birthday today, and the Pacers don’t have a game, so they can’t lose. I will be at the game against Dallas tomorrow, but that’s on someone else’s birthday and they can feel the awfulness associated with losing on your birthday, and not me. Anyway, today’s game grades are YAMS, so Chinue Achebe should be stoked about that.
What’s there to say? They shot under 40% from the field, again. They shot very poorly, 25%, from beyond the arc, again. They struggled at the free throw line, again. They turned the ball over way too many times, again. Things just aren’t clicking in Pacerland, and unless something changes soon, there’s no sign that any clicking is going to occur. These guys aren’t making good passes, aren’t making easy shots, and are playing very selfishly.
The defense was piss poor. The first half was atrocious. After only 6 minutes of basketball, the Pacers found themselves in a 20-6 hole. They were down by 30 in the third quarter. The Pacers only forced 6 turnovers. They were simply overmatched and it showed.
The starters were horrible. George Hill is supposed to be the spark for the team, and he went 1-10. Paul George is supposedly taking over as the next big thing, but he managed a measly 12 points on 5-17 shooting. All of the starters were yanked from the game. So there are some fresh legs and no excuses for the next game.
They got a lot of playing time and brought the Pacers kind of back into respectable territory. Basically this was a garbage game, but that’s good to develop a bench sometimes. It’s nice to get Plumlee, Pendergraph, and Baby Hansbrough into the game. Ideally, the Pacers would have the 30 point lead, but that was not the case tonight.
This was a despicable performance, and all we can do as fans is hope that there aren’t any more like it. The offense was bad. The defense was bad. The starters were bad. The bench was bad. The coaching was bad. The only thing that makes me feel a little warm inside is that the Bucks arena was less than half full. So there’s that. Anyway, I’m getting a beer. Goodday folks.
