Indiana Pacers (3-4)
Toronto Raptors (1-6)
The Indiana Pacers look to finally get some momentum going in this season. Coach Frank Vogel has stated it best that this is figure it out mode. The Pacers are looking to find a way to play without Danny Granger, and that has been hard to do so far. Close games in all but one game in this early part of the season. A blowout loss to the Spurs was the odd game out, but the Pacers have had shots to win in all other games they lost.
This game tonight against Toronto should be a win for the Pacers as they are the better team. Paul George needs to continue to be aggressive as he had his best game on Saturday night with 20 points. It might take another 20 point game to give the Pacers a good shot at winning here. George Hill and David West need to continue to be the strong points of this Pacers team as well. Bother guys have been so tough in games and scoring when the Pacers needed it most.
The man to watch is Roy Hibbert, who’s not been as good as advertised yet. He’s had good moments on defense, but we are waiting for that shooting touch to come around. He’s missed some easy baskets near the nets, and not had that many games in double figures. He needs to be around the 12-15 point and that same range for rebounds. With a guy as big as Hibbert, there’s no reason to shy away from the basket and not grab the ball every time it comes off the basket.
Rebounding and hard nosed defense will win the game for the Pacers tonight. It wouldn’t surprise me that it’s another down to the wire win for the team. Figuring out how to win those type of games can help in the long run. It might not be a pretty win, but in the NBA, pretty wins don’t count for anymore than an ugly win. The Pacers will win tonight by a small margin, and look to get going in that right direction.
