2011-2012 Season Review
This is the season things really clicked for Roy Hibbert. He went out and was able to start to become that center that the Pacers can use. He really played a big role on the defensive end as was seen in that first round playoff series against the Orlando Magic. He looked to be confident even after missing shots, which is something that was huge. He even earned an All Star nod as credit to how much his game was improving. He showed some great moves in the post area. He played and started in 65 games. He put up just under 13 points a game and grabbed around 9 rebounds a game. The consistency of his game even came along. You could tell in how he played how much more comfortable he felt playing the center position.
2012-2013 Season Preview
This is the year that Roy Hibbert will have to continue to show his improvement. With the money he’s making, he’s got to step up just a little bit more in the post. The Pacers could make him a focus on offense against the smaller teams. Some fans felt that he wasn’t worth the max contract, so Hibbert will have to prove those people wrong and show why he earned that money. He’s got a good shot at becoming a top center in the East with the absence of Dwight Howard. There will be Andrew Bynum to contend with, but who knows what mindset Bynum will be in. Either way those are two great young centers that would be a treat to watch go at it. Hibbert needs to step up the consistency more in the rebounding effort as some games he gets under 5 and some games he gets over 10. I’d like for him to be a double double machine getting around that 13 points a game and 10 rebounds a game. If he can get close or at that, the Pacers will be in good shape.
