Indiana Pacers vs Brooklyn Nets
Brooklyn Nets Off Season Recap:
The Nets pick up Gerald Wallace and Joe Johnson in this off season. They resign Brook Lopez after waiting around too long to get something done for Dwight Howard. Now if they get the Howard deal done, I’m ready to call them an upper Eastern Conference team. But with the players in place, are they that elite?
That’s the big thing to me. I know they have Deron Williams, who is one of the best point guards in the game. But come on now, Joe Johnson has gone downhill for a bit. Gerald Wallace is a name that you hear, and you wonder what team he’s on. Brook Lopez might be a top center in the East, but is he that valuable? These different players are going to mesh in the next year, and make some noise in the playoffs? I don’t think so. They will be better than usual, but I don’t see the Nets getting out of the first round this coming year.
Indiana Pacers vs Brooklyn Nets Match up:
The Nets are the sexy pick to make a big leap into the Eastern Conference picture. That would mean they would have to jump over the Pacers, which I don’t think happens. They can end up making the playoffs, but can they really make a push to that top half of the East?
There’s definitely one match up where I do have to give the edge to the Nets in this series between Pacers and them, point guard. Deron Williams seemed to have his way against the Pacers in a game last season, and the Pacers will have to slow him down some to make sure they can control the game.
I think everywhere the Pacers can get the edge back in their favor. Sure, Brook Lopez is a big man, but he can’t handle Roy Hibbert in the post area. Joe Johnson will put up some points, but his defense is very suspectible. The bench players of the Pacers is where this could be lost as there are unproven guys there.
The starters do their jobs in this series, and the Pacers will come out okay.
