Each day, I’m going to profile an Indiana Pacers player. Starting with George Hill today, and working the way through the starting lineup this week. Next week, I’ll look over the bench players and finish up with guys who might not see a lot of time, but could still play for the team.
2011-2012 Season Review: George Hill got inserted into the starting lineup come April of last season, and the Pacers looked to run smoother. He was a good defender and really put guys in good positions to score. He had a season high 24 points against Milwaukee in March. He also dished out a season high 8 assists against that same Milwaukee team.
2012-2013 Season Expectations: The area where I think George Hill can get better at and hopefully lead the team on is on the ball defending. As a point guard, he’s got to stay in front of the fellow point guard and pressure them as much as he can. He’s going to be in good control of the offense as we saw last season when he got inserted into the starting lineup. Some practice time with the starters should help work out some kinks, and the offense shouldn’t be as stagnant as it was at times last season. I think Hill can be a leader for this team on and off the court. Call guys out in his own way to make sure they’re doing what’s best for the team. Get guys in the right position on the floor to make plays. Hill looks to have that leadership ability about him, now would be the best time for that to come out.
