The Indiana Pacers took advantage of the Charlotte Bobcats releasing DJ Augustin as an unrestricted free agent, and he looks to add some depth to the bench. Looking over his stats for the past years he’s played, he gets around 11 points a game, which is good for the minutes he’ll probably play for the Pacers. He was the ninth pick of the 2008 Draft, so he can obviously play well and make a difference in games.
He was a starter in 2010-2011 and played all 82 games. Last season he started 46 out of the 48 games he played. So a durable guy for the Pacers to use. With the recent trade of Dahntay Jones and Darren Collison, the Pacers had to make some move to shore up the bench.
Last season bench players were up and down at times. They did provide the spark in games, but they also blew some games for the Pacers. If the Pacers can get good production out of Augustin and recent acquisition Ian Mahinmi, then this bench should be a good thing.
