Well the surprises keep coming along in this early off season. I have a feeling we’ll know where most guys are heading after next week, and then who knows what the off season will.
But looking at this sign and trade deal that involved Steve Nash now heading to the Lakers for four draft picks means that the Lakers aren’t quite ready to shut the window on their team. Nash is the type of point guard they can definitely use and have some shot at getting back into contention for the Western Conference.
I looked at the options before, and was very surprised when Toronto came out as the leading candidate. But then the Lakers were able to get this deal now, and it makes sense for Nash to head here. I would imagine he wants to play on a team with a chance to do something, which the Lakers can do.
Also, this should mean that Pau Gasol sticks around, and those reports about Minnesota pursuing him won’t come to fruition. Nash will definitely improve this team, and I think the one guy who can improve the most is Andrew Bynum.
There’s a guy that everyone is wanting for to break through and become a dominant center that he looks to be. Nash will be sure to feed him the ball at opportune times, and his offense game should finally come full circle.
