Miami Heat 106 New York Knicks 94
(Heat Win 4-1)
It took an extra game, but the Heat put away the Knicks, and now focus on their next opponent, the Indiana Pacers. Look for a preview for that series this afternoon. But in this one, Lebron James was his usual self for this series putting up 29 points, but adding along 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Just a good night at the office for him. Carmelo Anthony tried all he could to keep the Knicks alive with his 35 points, and actually matched Lebron in points for the series. But it wasn’t enough as the Heat were the stronger team, and the Knicks now have to look to what’s ahead for next year.
Memphis Grizzlies 92 Los Angeles Clippers 80
(Clippers Lead 3-2)
The Grizzlies aren’t going away yet as they finally got back to their aggressive style of play and were able to push around the Clippers. The first quarter saw the Grizzlies jump out to a 36-22 lead, and hold that lead for most of the way. Marc Gasol put up 23 points and Zach Randolph added his own 19 points to help propel the Grizzlies to picking up the win. Those two guys were instrumental in last year’s playoff run, so good to see they’re getting back to that form. The Grizzlies now have to pick up another win to keep the series alive and keep their hopes of a rematch with the Spurs in the second round. The Clippers want to put away the Grizzlies for their second ever playoff series win.
