San Antonio Spurs 106 Utah Jazz 91
The Spurs just continue to roll as they had been on a ten game winning streak after two different win streaks of 11 games. They just have it all working this year, and this game was all Spurs. Funny to think this is the first game one win for the Spurs in four years. A time that won so many titles in different years, and they hadn’t won the first game of the opening round, crazy crazy. But this team looks primed for a run, and I can’t see this series lasting long.
Los Angeles Lakers 103 Denver Nuggets 88
Andrew Bynum decided to up Roy Hibbert’s block party the night before, and got ten blocks in this game on his way to a triple double. Maybe Bynum will finally put it all together now. The Nuggets as a team had four blocks, if that tells you even more. Just a dominating defense. Kobe Bryant goes for 31 points to lead the way, and I don’t think the Nuggets will be around much longer for this series.
Atlanta Hawks 83 Boston Celtics 74
The Hawks win the game, but what’s the bigger story here? Rajon Rondo bumping a referee and will be missing the next game. Rondo is so important to this team, so game two will be important for the Celtics to win and get back in the series. Josh Smith had a great game for the Hawks with 18 rebounds and 22 points to go along with that. Rondo was having a good game until that issue towards the end of the game. Should be interesting to see if he gets the suspension.
Los Angeles Clippers 99 Memphis Grizzlies 98
What a comeback by the Clippers last night as they were down 27 points at one point, and even 21 points in the fourth quarter. Looking at quarter breakdowns, the Clippers outscored the Grizzlies 35-13 in the fourth quarter. This comes after a first quarter that the Grizzlies outscored the Clippers 34-16. Just a tale of a couple of quarters, and the Grizzlies should have run this game out. They’re one of the sleeper teams that some people are picking to come out of the West, so they’ll have to bounce back in game two.
Growing up I thought I would be an athlete, but not being blessed with athletic talent I took to watching it. I remember the days of the Indiana Pacers and the New York Knicks battling it out in the playoffs. The days of the Indianapolis Colts getting more visitor fans than home fans. Reggie Miller being my favorite Pacer to watch and all the dramatics he would perform. Watching Peyton Manning go through all of his hand gestures just to snap the ball. I'm an Indianapolis sports fan and one that wants to make that known to the world.
