Paul George made a splash in his first, and what hopefully won’t be last, All-Star appearance in the Rising Stars Game. His 23 points were only second to MVP of the game, and who himself will probably be an All-Star in the next few years, Kyrie Irving. George was the recepient of a sweet alley-oop pass from Irving right at the start of the game to get things going. We’ll see much more dunking from Mr. George tonight as he takes part in the dunk contest.
Speaking of that same dunk contest, Paul George has a real shot to take home the title of slam dunk champion, which is something as a Pacers fan, I never thought I would see. Sure we’ve seen great dunks in games from a Pacers player from time to time, but I never thought I would see one in the dunk contest with a real shot to win. That’s just another sign how far this team has come and how much it’s going to get better. George wanted to participate in the three point contest as well, but that didn’t happen. I can imagine he would be one of the few people to participate in both contests. Maybe next year he can participate in that three point contest. He’s improved greatly in that area of his game, so I imagine he would be a great contestant in there.
Great way to start off the All-Star weekend with a Pacers player really showing off his skills last night. We’ll get another chance to see Roy Hibbert, the Pacers center, take center stage on the Eastern All-Star game. Just another great way to get this Pacers team some recognition for the season they are having.
