Just after facing the Boston Celtics on the road, the Indiana Pacers hope to go 13-14 at home against a tough 16-11 New Orleans Hornets team. However, I think the Pacers will upset. The Indiana Pacers were heading to Boston to face on the tough Celtics, who were on a twelve-game winning-streak. I expected an upset since the team did not have Rajon Rondo. But a player put up Rondo-like stats up today, and his name was Paul Pierce. Rondo, you can rest, Pierce has got your back my friend. At 12-13, the Indiana Pacers are at a good mark towards the ending of the 2010 year. As they enter 2011 for the rest of the NBA season, the playoffs need to be on their mind. And if they do in fact make it to the playoffs, they may face the team they are facing today in Boston, as they take on the Celtics. The Celtics have been rolling with a 21-4 record. Mike Dunleavy has done a lot of good for his career with the Indiana Pacers. The team’s guard/forward has returned this season after injury, and has been playing well as he fits great with Jim O’Brien’s system. Dunleavy enters free agency this off-season and O’Brien really wants him to stay. “One hundred percent absolutely (I want Dunleavy back),” O’Brien told The Indianapolis Star. “I would hate not to have an opportunity to have him on our basketball team.” Dunleavy has taken a chunk out of the team’s cap space, with $10.6 million per year. Josh McRoberts has been struggling lately and hasn’t been getting the rebounds like he is supposed to. However, he will not be benched. “I don’t think you want to overreact to the games we played against the Lakers and Chicago; those were really high-quality teams,” head coach Jim O’Brien told The Indianapolis Star. “At the same time, if we don’t get production in a particular lineup, then at some point in time we’ll make a change. I don’t think it warrants it at this particular point.” Jeff Foster, Tyler Hansbrough, or James Posey could be one of McRoberts’ replacements.

Oftentimes teams with their “backs against the wall” will refer to a big game as a “must -win” game. If they lose this game, it could be all over. In the NBA, games in December really don’t figure into the eventual champion, but for this Indiana franchise, their game tomorrow at home against the Cavs will feel like a must-win game. This was just an awful effort and performance by the Indiana Pacers. They just let the Los Angeles Lakers drive all over them in this game. Indiana was solid at Staples Center when they beat Los Angeles, 95-92. Their celebrating must have really pissed the team off, especially on their court. When I first looked at the news, I gasped: The Los Angeles Lakers are acquiring Terrence Williams! No way. But it appears that the New Jersey Net’ young stud will be heading to Houston to play with the Rockets in a three-way deal that went down today. The weather was the most exciting part of the Patriots versus Bears game on Sunday in Chicago.
