Indiana Pacers 2010-11 NBA Season Preview
As a sports fan, how can your favorite month be anything other than October? As we get ready to begin the last week of the month, here is where we stand. College football is at the halfway mark, and the NFL is just about there. MLB has the World Series set with the Giants and Rangers, which begins Wednesday. The NASCAR season has just four more races before they crown their champion. The NHL season is underway, and College Basketball is right around the corner. Add all of that on top of the NBA season set to tip-off this coming [...]
It is official, point guard Allen Iverson is heading to Turkey. The eleven-time NBA all-star signed to a two-year deal worth $4 million with the Turkish pro basketball team, the Besiktas. Yahoo! Sports first reported this. Iverson is expected to report to the team by next week or so. The contract allows Iverson to opt out of his first year, but it didn’t show anything about an escape-clause to the NBA, however. Besiktas’ board member, Seref Yalcin, may travel to the United States to discuss to Iverson what situation he is in and help with the deal that is in [...]
Indiana Pacers Training Camp: Which Pacer Will Get Cut?
The Indiana Pacers have 16 players so far after cutting Lance Allred. But there is one player that has to leave before Monday night’s deadline in which all NBA teams have to have 15 players on their roster, maximum. In my opinion, the players that are on the bubble for the Pacers are point guard A.J. Price, power forward Magnum Rolle, and center Solomon Jones. Price has showed a lot of promise, but was dealt with an injury during a charity basketball game. However, Price returned way way before than it was even expected. He was two months on time. [...]
Michael Jordan has done a lot for the National Basketball Association. Sadly as a 13-year-old myself, I have never really got to see him play. The great Michael Jordan, I know. The only time I ever remember watching him live was when the guy was on the Washington Wizards. I never really got to see the true him. But I have seen over millions of highlights, games, and clips of the best player in the league history. Here are the Top Five moments in Michael Jordan’s career. Honorable Mention: Final Farewell This would be the last we would ever see [...]
Are the Indiana Pacers Truly Ready?
The Indiana Pacers played a miserable game versus the Chicago Bulls in their final pre-season game, getting trampled with a 102-74 loss. And with the loss, along with a regular season game coming against the San Antonio Spurs in about a week, is there a cause for concern with the Pacers? I am concerned with them. They have brought all this talent, and all they lost was Troy Murphy and Earl Watson, which won’t make much of an impact when you see the new acquisitions brought in. However, seeing that game, I just keep thinking Indy is in for another [...]
Pacers Pick Up Options on Collison, Hansbrough
Via Pacers.com press release: The Indiana Pacers announced Monday they have picked up the options on Darren Collison and Tyler Hansbrough’s contracts. Per club policy no details of the contract are released. Collison, a second-year player out of UCLA, was traded to the Pacers on Aug. 11 from New Orleans. Last year for the Hornets, he averaged 12.4 points and 5.7 assists per game. Hansbrough, the 13th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, played in 29 games for the Pacers during the 2009-10 season and averaged 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. “Darren and Tyler are key components [...]
According to the Associated Press, the Portland Trail Blazers have agreed to trade point guard Jerryd Bayless to the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for a conditional future first-round draft pick. The Blazers did this to create extra room and salary cap space on the roster. Bayless has showed some shining moments with the Blazers in his past two seasons, but has been struggling as of late. The third-year point guard will now be entering New Orleans, playing with fellow point guard Chris Paul. With Darren Collison gone, the Hornets could use a nice, valuable back-up at the point guard [...]
The NBA Could Be Up for Contraction, Go Into Lockout
To solve some of the financial problems happening in the National Basketball Association, the NBA looks to go to contraction. “It’s a sensitive subject for me because I’ve spent 27 years in this job working very hard not only to maintain all of our teams, but along the way add a few,” Stern said during his preseason conference call. “But I think that’s a subject that will be on the table with the players as we look to see what’s the optimum way to present our game, and are there cities and teams that cannot make it in the current [...]
Pacers Fall to Bulls
That’s basically all I’m going to say. I really do not want to talk about this. Although this is the final pre-season game, Indiana needs to be ready for the regular season. If they play like they did last night, man it is going to be a long year!
Lance Allred Cut
Coming to no surprise whatsoever, the Indiana Pacers cut Lance Allred today, according to Mike Wells of the Indianapolis Star. The Pacers roster is now down to 16 players and have to get rid of at least one more player to get by Monday’s NBA deadline. The Pacers still have the trade in mind of Dahntay Jones and Solomon Jones for a big man. We’ll see what happens.
