Will the Pacers Extend Rush?

AUTHOR: | IN: News, Offseason, Pacers, Popular, Preview/Prediction | COMMENTS: None Yet

The deadline to extend Brandon Rush’s contract will be on the 31st of October. It could be a spooky Halloween night for Rush, as it is possible that he may not receive an extension at all. But he is working hard and will try to make up for the five-game suspension he was received from the NBA after having a scuffle with drugs. “I do think it could play a part a little bit, but I’m trying not to worry about it,” Rush told the Indianapolis Star. “I should be fine as long as I come out here and show [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: Free Agency, News, Offseason, Pacers, Popular, Preview/Prediction | COMMENTS: None Yet

According to the Associated Press, the Indiana Pacers have picked up the option on center Roy Hibbert. This means the former first-round draft pick will be signed through next season. Hibbert will be entering his third season into the league, after coming off an improving year with 11.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. Hibbert has had a great off-season, and according to head coach Jim O’Brien, he’s having the best off-season he has ever seen from him. Hibbert has been practicing much of the off-season working with legendary center Bill Walton. He is in for a primed [...]

Hansbrough Optimistic for This Season

AUTHOR: | IN: News, Offseason, Opinion, Pacers, Popular, Preview/Prediction | COMMENTS: None Yet

Tyler Hansbrough has a lot to prove this season, as he is most likely to start at power forward this year for the Indiana Pacers since Troy Murphy was dealt to the New Jersey Nets in order for Indy to receive Darren Collison and James Posey. The legend from North Carolina looks to show that he is NBA-worthy and looks to prove all the naysayers wrong. Last season, he couldn’t, and he was only able to play 29 games that season. He was out for most of the year due to a severe ear infection. Now he’s back and is [...]

Mike Dunleavy Looks to Start

AUTHOR: | IN: News, Offseason, Pacers, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

Mike Dunleavy has been working on his game a lot more than rehabbing his knee. He hasn’t played a full season since 2007. “I’m ready,” Dunleavy told The Indianapolis Star. “I had a good summer. I don’t have any predictions or anything like that, but I’m ready to play.” Dunleavy will start the first five games of the season due to Brandon Rush’s suspension. He will play at shooting guard. He looks to prove himself well. “When I’m healthy, I’m pretty good,” Dunleavy told the paper. “That’s one of the advantages. The other thing is I’m pretty versatile. I can [...]

CSI Indy: Investigating The Pacers’ Upcoming NBA Season

AUTHOR: | IN: Offseason, Opinion, Pacers, Popular, Preview/Prediction | COMMENTS: None Yet

When the NFL announces the release of the upcoming season’s schedule, everyone pays attention. Why should that be any different for Pacers fans? The difference between the NFL and NBA schedules is pretty obvious. When people check out the NFL schedule, they are looking at what teams they will be playing. With the NBA schedule, everyone plays everyone so that really doesn’t matter. What matters is the dates and road trips that the teams will be facing. There are a few bumps in the road I see for the Pacers next year. The first one comes in late November, where [...]

Why Earl Watson Chose to Play with the Jazz

AUTHOR: | IN: News, Offseason, Pacers, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

This is why the former point guard for the Indiana Pacers chose to play with the Utah Jazz for this season. “I was spoiled early,” Watson told The Salt Lake Tribune. “So now, going into my 10th year, it’s a chance to get back to my foundation, my roots. … Winning is key to me. You can’t replace winning. Winning is priceless.” Good point.

What to Look Forward to Part 2

AUTHOR: | IN: Offseason, Opinion, Pacers, Popular, Preview/Prediction | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Pacers came into the offseason with one glaring need – a point guard. After a lot of inactivity and patience, they landed their man. Darren Collison came over in a four-team trade that sent Troy Murphy to the Nets. The Pacers hope Collison is their point guard for the future. If his rookie season is any indication, they got a good one. Collison spent his rookie season with New Orleans as back up for superstar Chris Paul. After learning from him a lot about the point guard position, Collison got a chance to start 37 games when Paul went [...]

Power Forward Spot Open for Pacers

AUTHOR: | IN: News, Offseason, Opinion, Pacers, Popular, Preview/Prediction | COMMENTS: None Yet

There will be a power forward battle between Jeff Foster, Josh McRoberts, Tyler Hansbrough, and Magnum Rolle. Since Troy Murphy is gone, the Pacers are stuck with these four. Everyone one of those guys has a good shot at starting. “I think all of our bigs will have an opportunity at playing time,” Pacers coach Jim O’Brien tells The Indianapolis Star. “I think it’s open. We’re not going to be a 3-point shooting team at the position because we don’t have a Troy Murphy anymore.” I wouldn’t be surprised if Indy would trade for a power forward.

Being Number One in the NBA: It’s All About the Image

AUTHOR: | IN: Pacers | COMMENTS: None Yet

Kevin Durant is currently tearing it up in the basketball world lately. He is just coming off some great seasons in the NBA, along with being the youngest player to win the scoring-title, in which he did just last season. He also led Team USA to beat Hedo Turkoglu and Turkey in the FIBA World Championships, setting records there as well. Soon enough, he will be accepted as the number one player in the NBA. Many would want to tend to disagree with me on that statement. A lot of other names pop up that could replace Durant. Kobe Bryant, [...]
