2009-10 Indiana Pacers Preview
Last season brought many surprises to the Indiana Pacers franchise. Although the team was buried with injuries throughout the year, they finished as the ninth best team in the Eastern Conference, barely missing the playoffs that year. One of their most important players was out for most of the season as the Pacers had to manage to stay alive during the 2008-09 season without Mike Dunleavy.
But other than that, many surprises came as backup point guard Jarrett Jack showed signs of him being a starting-caliber PG. T.J. Ford was strong throughout the year just as Troy Murphy was as he [...]
I stood there in the stands. I was in the 15th row in Conseco Fieldhouse, but I am getting too ahead of myself here. It was November 3, 2006, I was ten years old. It was a Friday Night and I was driving down Indianapolis with my father to see the game between the Pacers and the New Orleans Hornets.
But this was no ordinary game. Now I am a Pacers fan, and yes, I do live in Indiana for all my life, but I haven’t been to one single Pacers game. This was my first. I came there with my [...]

The Pacers have signed forward Rod Benson, swingman Demetris Nichols, and forward Lawrence Roberts to their training camp list. The contracts were reported to be non-guaranteed.
Right now, it seems that Tyler Hansbrough will be sidelined for the first few games of the season. “Certainly we would hope to have him toward the beginning of the season,” coach Jim O’Brien said. “We think that would be the best case scenario. … There are different levels that he has to achieve on a weekly basis in order to take that next step. He has improved dramatically since it was diagnosed. If it [...]
Rumors have been flying everywhere this whole offseason surrounding David Lee of him going to multiple NBA teams. But as of right now, I think all of us have wasted our time talking about that.
Numerous sources have told me that David Lee is inching closer and closer to inking a deal with his fellow New York Knicks. So, yes people, David Lee is now reuniting with the Knicks with his fellow teammate Nate Robinson.
“We’re on the verge of getting this done,” Mark Bartelstein told ESPN. “I believe David will sign the contract tomorrow.”
David Lee is scheduled to have a one-year [...]
Indiana Pacers president Larry Bird is entering the final year of his contract with the team, coming into this year’s 2009-10 season. Bird has made it clear to the team’s organization that he wants to stay here.
“I said when I took over that we were going to change the culture, and I think we’ve done that,” Bird told The Indianapolis Star. “Now it’s putting the pieces of the puzzle together to get the type of team I want here and it ain’t going to happen overnight. … It’s a process, and we said it’s going to be three years and [...]
With the Dallas Mavericks’ recent additions of Drew Gooden and Shawn Marion in the offseason, rumors started to heat up of starting center Erick Dampier heading to the bench.
“It excites me to have our quarterback back (Jason Kidd) and to have Shawn Marion on one wing and Josh Howard on the other. You got a runner like no other in Drew Gooden that can get up and down the court with the best of them,” said Mavs’ president Donnie Nelson. “You got Dirk Notwitzki, who knows how to play the game a little bit. And then you got Erick Dampier [...]
Forward Michael Beasley returned to the Miami Heat to work out with them after staying in rehab for about a month. Beasley took part in voluntary workout sessions and was doing well. Much of the staff has seen Beasley for a while last month, some of them have seen them each day.
“We want to bring him back to the family, bring him back in here,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “We’re 100 percent behind him. We’ve invested in him, not just financially but emotionally. We’ve spent a great deal of time with him this summer, trying to develop him on [...]
Danny Granger had an amazing season last year with the Indiana Pacers, averaging about 26 points per game, about five rebounds, and about three assists per game during the 2008-09 season last year. With those stats, Granger earned his spot in the All-Star game.
Granger also lead the Pacers to a 36-46 record, earning his team the ninth seed in playoffs. One more spot, and they were automatically in the playoffs facing such great teams like the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Orlando Magic, and others in the Eastern Conference.
Granger had done so many astonishing things last year, like helping his team [...]
